Re: The nostalgic food cravings of Brits
Hate to burst anyone's bubble, but you Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes fans who were looking forward to getting a US version might want to shift expectations downward. I tried the new "Kellogg's Crunchy Nut" cereal today after some of you mentioned it, and while it's not terrible (it's basically like sweetened cheerios with bits of nuts on them), it doesn't taste much like the Crunchy Nut that I remember.

Re: The nostalgic food cravings of Brits
A friend of my mother's is 79 years old with mobility problems and next May/June she intends to go and stay, for about six weeks, with her sister (British born but now with dual UK/US nationality) who is actually 82 and lives in California, having been there for about 35 years or so now. The two sisters talk on the phone together practically every day and the "American" lady has told her sister that it would be great if she could take certain items of foodstuffs she would like from Scotland with her when she goes over there, including "proper" bacon and some other items she would dearly like to have again but not available over there in the same form or not at all. I told my mother that I think the American authorities would confiscate such items. Am I right?
This is probably the last time the two sisters will see each other, sad to say. Such a pity. My mum will look after the visiting sister's dog while she is away. The "American" sister lost her only son through chronic alcoholism last summer.
