Northern Lights, or whatever they are...
Did anybody see the lights in the sky last night?
My husband noticed "rays" of light last night in the sky. It was a clear night and I was amazed at the show. There were no clouds, so we weren't sure what it was (we were getting excited at the prospect of a close encounter!).
This morning, my husband was watching the news and apparently they are the northern lights, or something like that, and are very rare to see this far south (we're in Chicagoland). Also, the news said that they should still be visible for a couple of more nights.
Has anybody else seen this? I thought is was amazing, but then I get excited easily.

Heres a link for you .. it shows when you are most likely to see the northern lights. We had a great show over the weekend while we were in the UP of Michigan

Northern Light, Aurora Borealis, dawn of the north.
I'm a docent for my son's classroom, the curriculum doesn't make art classes compulsory so we have a project where five artists and techniques are chosen and delivered to the students by trained volunteers of which I am one.
Today's project, my first, was Northern lights. It was sooo much fun. The kids loved the mythology, the science and creating their own pictures of northern lights.
The pictures were amazing. At the workshop we attended the docents (around 350 of us) were so careful in creating our pictures. But the children today were so expressive, so confident, so unrestricted. It was fantastic to see.
I became a volunteer after seeing the first project my son brought home. I had so much fun today I wanted to share and this thread was the perfect opportunity.
(And the first sarky bugger to come along and tell me I need an EAd gets it! )

Wow! What a fantastic picture! The lights that we saw here were nothing compared to that!
