I'm really sorry to hear all this. What makes it worse is when the companies are reluctant to even cooperate with you properly - very unprofessional (despite their claims!).
Hope things all work out for you - it's all a load of crap.
All the best

Well I just got back from seeing my lawyer. I feel *so* American now! He's pretty confident that we'll get it all sorted out.
How did you get on with your claim Cathy?

Had a lot going on recently and so it got put by the wayside - guess I should get going with claiming something from them.
Although... my loss pales into insignificance compared to yours!

As if by magic my shipment appears! My lawyer called them and they are releasing the shipment. It was a dispute between GB Liners and Deliver USA with my stuff being held to ransom. Deliver USA said it should be here within " a few weeks". I mean don't rush or anything!
We're still suing the sods though.

It's known as an "oh f***k moment, when they realise they are going to have to pay out if they don't stop screwing you over. Amazing how the word "lawyer" strikes fear into people's hearts here, isn't it.
Still, really glad you got your stuff back.

Wow. I can understand that you won't believe it until it's there, but I totally agree with what Lion said! Amazing.
Cautiously happy for you, Sibsie.

Wonderful news. Hope it all turns up soon so you have a change of brititish undies........
Our belongings are somwhere in the ocean, delivery to UK due July 12th.... I told hubby about your plight and he said oh so now you are going to have that to worry about.....
I said.... Nope.... It will just mean there is less to unpack.... I am knackered with all the packing right now so it felt like the right reply.... LOL Definately won't feel like that if it goes missing though.......
Anyway great news....

Well done your lawyer. Its amazing everyone bitches about lawyers but when problems come up its the lawyers that can often help resolve it. My profession vindicated!
Good luck and here is keeping fingers crossed for the delivery.

And what these @$$wipes don't obviously realize is the power of word of mouth.
How many people come here regularly asking about good shipping companies? I know my husband and I did.
I've bookmarked this thread. I'm going to compile a list of shipping companies NOT to use just so I can post it the next time someone asks for a good shipping company. I think it is just as important for people to know who to stay clear of and the reasons why.
I empathized with your anger, sibsie, when I read your story. I really hope you get both companies by the balls and make them pay through the nose.
I hope you get your belongings soon and I hope when you do get them, there is no damage to them.

Thanks Thing, what with the robbery at the airport on the way here and a load of other sagas, it's been a busy few months. :scared:

When they moving company said a few weeks, did they give you an actual date? If not, give them an actual date you want your stuff by or you will call in the lawyer again. That might make them get their fingers out their a***. Good luck with it all. If you need anything in the mean time we are just down the road in central MA.
