Stotties were big baps down our way.

I've had calf fries in Texas 4 years ago , which is much the same thing. They look and taste exactly like Chicken McNuggets. I haven't been back to McDonalds since.

What exactly are calf fries? Do you mean they're sort of like a Beef "mcNugget"?

Poshpaws - I had a stottie once at a pub opposite a big touristy hop farm in Paddock Wood Kent. Big bread roll filled with cheese/ham or whatever. Nearly the size of a loaf but round.
Only place I ever had one -
As for your other word - singing hinny ???????????????No Idea - I seem to remember wives being called Hinny in Newcastle on Tyne when we were stationed up North but its probably nothing to do with that.

Fortnight should be easy, I think most americans know what it is but never use it as it's seen as ancient. My yank wife knows.

How about a Dustman ..... do most Americans know what that is?

My wife didn't have a clue what a Duvet was when she first came over here, I went to work one day and when I came home the duvet cover was on the matress and she told me it took her a full 2 hours to get it on, unbelievable

A fortnight is a period of 2 weeks. As for Dustman, sounds like a brand of vacuum cleaner.

A *dustman* is what we call the guys who come and collect our rubbish/trash each week.

I best quit this thread now before Tony_2003 tells me I need another chill pill ......
