James W. Ziglar, recently confirmed on July 31 as INS Commissioner by the Senate, made a visit to the Arlington INS office recently as broadcasted by NPR on All Things Considered today.
He basically went into one of the rooms, probably the room we had to sit in waiting for our AOS interview, and saw tons of people sitting around waiting for their appointments. He made some speech saying he would speed up wait times to a not-so-enthusiastic-crowd clapping for his speech/appearance. He talked to some Canadian guy who was going through the process waiting years for his greencard basically portraying the service as rather appalling.
Someone conveyed to the Commissioner that they had to wait behind a big queue even though they had arrived at 6:00AM.
I didn't really catch anything terribly interesting from it but hopefully he will take his experience to heart and really do something about the wait times and service.
