New Immigration Law After 9/11
Recently a new immigration law was passed after 9/11 that citizens of Iran, Araq and two other countries which I don't remember have to go through a couple of procedures while entering and exiting us (finger print, photograph and some times interview if they had to stay more than 30 days in us).
anyway my question was, what about Someone born in Iran and a Canadian citizen working in US with a TN visa?
I go to Vancouver every week to see my BF and its going to be really hard if this law applies to canadian citizens born in Iran working in US.
Thank you,
E

I believe that when that person became a Canadian citizen he/she lost
her Iranian citizenship. In any case, if you are a Canadian citizen
you have nothing to worry about entering the USA, regardless of where
you were born.

Frankly anyone entering the "USA" should be required to go through a
stringent check before stepping on "OUR" soil.

Re: New Immigration Law After 9/11
Yah, I saw that just now on INS website.
Its the four arab states.
Now when you leave, u have to tell the INS too. And after 30 days,
you have to tell the INS where you are.
Well its just too bad.
But I am not arab, so nothing to worry.

Why are all these foreigners trampling on our soil?
What is wrong with their own soil in their HOMEland?

Less paperwork for everyone.

AFAIK, Iran does not recognize foreign naturalization and will
continue to insist on treating someone of Iranian origin as an
Iranian citizen, regardless of the person's intentions or the
laws/policies of his/her new country of citizenship.
It's also my understanding that Iran does not generally permit
renunciation of Iranian citizenship -- i.e., even if an Iranian
wants to get rid of his Iranian citizenship Iran doesn't have
any procedure within its own legal system for doing this.
Note too, BTW, that Canada does not require its newly naturalized
citizens to give up their old citizenship(s). But even if it
did, it wouldn't matter as far as Iran was concerned.

Possible 9/11-related concerns aside, this is true. The issue
of Iranian citizenship would only come up if the person were
somehow to wind up in Iran.
