Default New house but not on map !!

My wife and I purchased a new house in the US a few months back. Unfortunatly our address does not appear on yahoo maps, mapquest etc etc.
So, when any visitor, service person, Fex Ex, UPS etc have the need to come to our house they can never find it without a 10 minute telephone conversation guiding them along their way...

Does anyone know, having had a similar experience to us, how often the map web sites get updated !? - I tried searching for this answer on the web but couldn't get an answer...

My house was wrongly identified on Yahoo, etc when I first moved in, but they have an email link on the page where you can send them a note asking for a correction. Took a few weeks, but they did it.

New homes and subdivisions don't appear on mapping applications for maybe a couple of years, in my experience.

It's not unusual for delivery people and taxi drivers to call to ask for directions to an address regardless of how long the residence has been there either.

Give it a couple of years to appear..yahoo and all that will fix something if it's wrong, but if it's not there, there ain't much to be done about it.

Send an email to NAVTEQ and TeleAtlas. They provide most of the map data for google, mapquest, yahoo, etc. NAVTEQ actually has a section on their website to add an address, not sure if it does any good though, they still tell people to go to the wrong end of the road to get to my house.

My neighborhood took about 2 1/2 years to appear on Google Maps, the satellite image still shows the bare field with only the outline of the roads. Mapquest still does not find my address.

At least the entrance road to the neighborhood is on all the maps so it's not to hard to give out directions.

Not on Mapqwest etc either, house built 8 years ago.

Rairly now have problems with UPS, only once when they had a temp on the route.

Anybody else I give them directions or e mail a link with a big x where we are.

Actually now think of it as a positive.
