Thanks for the replies. Now at least I know I'm in the right time line. I got my own renewal in less then 2 weeks, but realised a BRAND NEW app would take a bit longer.

I am putting my renewal application in the mail today... under travel date i am thinking of just putting "world cup! must. go. home!"

I'm sure they'll understand.

Frank, they are also having trouble with the passport system in London. (At least thats what my cousin tells me) Apparently things have been held up because they have been having problems with the system..so they are quite backlogged.. not sure if that affects DC but i'm sure at some point it has to go into the same queue. I think right now they are concentrating on short travel dates.

Anyone, have personal dates/time line for similar?
Guess will wait another week & call the $2 per min rip off line.

Hi Celtic, I applied early to beat the summer rush. Obviously did not work

I didn't bother getting my photos countersigned, sent everything off a week ago so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

PS Has your son made his decision yet? Just fishin'.

Always a worry though letting go of your passport, just in case you get THAT call from the UK. :scared:

Yes, looks like Uni Georgia. Better for us.
If you are doing a renewal for yourself, then photos, don't need countersigning, I THINK. My sons needed to be countersigned, because 1st Brit Passport.
When I renewed mine, 9.5 years ago, took less then 2 weeks.

Congratulations to your son. I thought he may be going to Florida. Just reading between the lines you know 2 + 2 = 9.

Although there's no mention on the printout forms, it does state on the website that if there's not much difference between the old and new photos there is no need for a counter signature. We shall see.

Nope, he got into FL but did not want to there. The final choice of 2 was Ohio or GA. He chose Uni Georgia. We visited there last summer.

Well like I said 2 + 2 = 9. You win some, you lose some.

Congrats to him and all the best.

Thought that was a "must do" - thats why we got ours sent back..or is that just for 1st time passports, and not for renewals?
