What if the person in Arizona pretending to be you locks your SSN first?

I'm afraid that the Federal government's track record with computer systems and customer facing web sites does not give me a great deal of confidence in this ...

I tried to sign up, but can't answer one of the identity questions which is last 4 digits of a phone number, but its been so long since I had a phone in the US, I cannot remember any of them, so I suppose I can't use it since I will never be able to remember whatever phone they are looking for.

The process is long, and then nothing achieved at the end..lol

Self-check runs an Equifax check before you get to that step, so the person wouldn't just need to know your name and SSN, they'd need all kinds of info about you.
