My boyfriend has H-1B status, how can I stay in US?
Hi
My boyfriend is currently working in the US under a H-1B visa. I am currently staying with him but I am on a visitor visa so will have to leave the country every 3 months. Is there a type of visa I can get which will allow me to stay with my boyfriend longer than 3 months? I know I won't be able to work but having to come and go every 3 months is difficult.
I am hoping to find a company to sponsor me so I can get a H-1B visa myself. I have all the relevant qualifications needed.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you.
Anne

Perhaps your boyfriend can get green card sponsorship from the company he works for, and then you can be included in the petition (but that would require marriage...). And don't forget to apply for the DV2004 programme! You probablty thought of both of these items, and I hope I didn't waste your time.

While you can get a B2 visa which will permit you longer stays, you will
be questioned as to why you need it, which with the answer "to be with
my H1B boyfriend" will result in an instant refusal, and it will be very
hard to justify a longer stay.
Short of marrying him or finding a job in your own right to get an H1B,
... no. The INS do nothing to help people in your situation.
