I still have two episodes of X-files series 5 to watch on DVD. I already have the DVDs for series 6 & 7. At the rate I'm watching them it'll take me to the end of 2015 before I get through season 9 and I'll need to find something else to watch. .... Probably the five seasons of Fringe.

The analog channel numbers are still used for digital but the carrier is QAM256 which can carry about 42 mbps per analog channel number. The have very sophisticated equipment that allows for multiplexing an analog channel allowing many digital channels to share an analog channel number. By putting different types of HD channels one analog channel, they may be able to get very many HD channels (posibly even 8 or more) on one analog channel.

5 or 6 years ago, Verizon Fios was being installed around Tampa Bay. It almost got to the area I used to live with my ex-wife, then I moved out, and they stopped. The people I know that have the option of Fios swear by it, the rest of us just swear at TWC (brighthouse) and pay what they demand.

On topic, aren't they all shit? We've had Dish, now we have AT&T, who we always had for internet. The channels are all the same, I can stillwatch porn access the internet and we pay about the same as just about any other provider would charge, from talking to people who have others.
In essence, they're all cnuts, though in our area, for TV at least, we have a choice of four providers; two cable and two satellite, which is probably more than many other areas.

In my experience, we always have mostly adequate equipment, but every single ad we see for our provider on TV portrays way batter looking gear, which would probably incur a hefty upcharge.
Basically since I can watch Premiership football (and the other shows I like) as and when I want and we have a DVR and we are able to afford the service, I'm happy enough to stick with it because I have no real evidence that we'd get better elsewhere. Plus, ignore the fact that I don't want to deal with a dish again, we can't get satellite anyway because we don't have a clear northwestern aspect at our house, so that leaves only Comcast anyway which is much of a muchness with AT&T, from speaking to people who have it.
The only change I'd make would be possibly paying for HBO, so we don't have to wait until free preview weekend to watch Game of Thrones
