Sorry for not replying last week - work is quite hectic.
Thanks for everyone's replies, found them extremely useful. We can't wait to move over at the moment and I'm sure we will find a nice place to live in Hoboken.
That Galaxy apartment complex sounds amazing, I'm tempted to up my rent limit.

I think Jersey City is getting a bit of an unfair bashing. You have a very good area in Paulus Hook. Some of the best views in the tri states. My aprtment was on the corner of Hudson/Essex. I had views of the Staue, downtown and midtown. Very good value, I lived there. Peacefull at the wekend as it is now a major finacial district.

Just to update this thread, my husband and I have now been living in Hoboken for a month and really enjoying it (although it has been too cold to go out that much). We found an apartment that was quite a bit under our max rent and it's an easy commute to work via the 126 bus.
