Yep -- the only thing that sucks more than our current health insurance scheme is no health insurance!

I'll be your neighbour to the north if you have any more regional questions. I did scan over the list of benefits and they are fairly standard. Do note that they will actually *pay you* not to be on the company health plan ("opt-out credit") which is a sign of the expense of health insurance. It is so critical that it's best that both partners in a marriage work so that one can cover the other if one loses a job. (If both of you lose your jobs simultaneously - ouch.)

But - you will have the option of returning to the UK if one of your family becomes chronically ill.

This is a beautiful area in which to live -- my heart belongs to the Hill Country -- but no place in which to become ill.
