I feel your pain! I suggest you simply replace the TV now and not tell the wife about it until she notices. It is always easier to get forgiveness than permission! Give the old TV to Goodwill and take a tax write-off for it. It's a win-win situation unless your wife is somehow emotionally involved with the TV... or the rabbit ears!

there's been a couple of threads on getting a digital tuner, get a $40 coupon and buy the box for $50 at best buy etc....
