I couldn't. I can't tell you how many times I've been unable to get a same-day or next-day or even "this week" appointment with a variety of providers.
The kids can get in quickly which is good since kids' illnesses can become serious quickly, but adults?
Basically you are told that if you don't/can't wait, go to the ER (where you'll wait, and wait, and wait, and pay through the nose even with insurance), or else.... wait for an appointment.
I'm sure that in other parts of the country it's different.

"According to a study by the Commonwealth Fund, a health policy think tank, only 30% of U.S. patients in 2005 had same-day access when they needed to see a doctor, and 23% waited six days or more."

In 25 years living in the UK I only ever got a prompt response from a doctor once and that was when I sprained my ankle.... most requests for an appointment were fended off in favor of seeing "the nurse practitioner" or a pharmacist directly... this was despite numerous actual complaints.
In the US I could call now and be in the doctors office within 90mins.
from my point of view there is no comparison.

It really is a case of location for both in the UK and the US, but being less cheap over here.

I really think we should have a dedicated US Healthcare Forum.

and i've been told it'll be a 6 week wait, or go to the ER if it's that bad....so like many have been saying, it all depends on where you live in either country...but considering how much you pay for it in the US, the least they can do is be more quick and efficient about it.
