Michael Moore on US healthcare...
Should be interesting:
"Cannes is smacking its lips in anticipation of filmmaker and provocateur Michael Moore's latest jeremiad against the US administration, which receives its premiere at the film festival today. Sicko, a documentary tackling the state of American healthcare, focuses on the pharmaceutical giants, and particularly on health insurers."

the fda approves drugs which cause bad side effects yet they clamp down big time on small companies producing herbal healthy remedies. i hate the big pharmaceutical co.s and the fda. greedy people

wasn't there a thread on this a week or so ago?
either way, love or hate him, he certainly does go after interesting subjects and causes a discussion about it, so it can't all be bad

Yes, but much of it goes something like this 'We don't want the healthcare that Canada has - you have to wait years for a hip replacement'. *rolleyes*

That man lost the plot long ago. There is no need for him to introduce party politics into issues that everyone in the US should be equally concerned about - doesn't help one bit.
Oh - and he's a fat bastard.

Michael Moore for all his faults, is a journalist first and foremost.
Seen Sicko already never thought people could die through lack of coverage
I will not be extending my 6 mo contract in US, I'm playing it safexx Sarah

And of course the thing that makes it fun is that everyone is screwing everyone. I broke my collar bone a month ago, but it took me 4 days to realize that it was more than just a little banged up. So then I went to the hospital to get it looked at. The hospital sent me a statement:
Urgent care $200.00; Clavicle X-rays $146.80; Sling $57.75
Total = $404.85 - $20 copay = $384.85 billed to insurance.
Except that when I get the insurance statement it says that they paid $624.00 to the hospital.

Difference is here, we actually see an improvement with increased money, at home more money goes into the NHS and it somehow seems to get even crazier

US healthcare = efficiently run, fraud ridden, self medicating business;
UK healthcare = badly run, under funded charity.
the end.

US Healthcare: No insurance..you die
UK Healthcare: No need for insurance, you might wait, but you won't die.
