So you do a lot of leaping around with a glass of red wine on the bed?
Kinky.

That's the reason I chose the memory foam mattress. My husband moves and twitches around a lot in bed and it used to drive me crazy...now he can move as much as he wants 'cos now it doesn't disturb me.

So it really does work the way they show it on the commercials then?

Anyone got any recommendations?
Anyone got one of those fancy schmanzy Tempur Pedic ones?
I love my Tempur-pedic, I haven't needed a chiropractic visit since I bought it. Haven't found it excessively warm either my only regret was not buying one earlier.

Indeedy. If the Sproutlet is asleep on one side of the bed I can bounce on the other without waking her.

We sat/laid on a few when we were buying a bed this past March.... They seemed to be fine, but the very expensive price tag (think it was like $3k for a king) put us off at this time. However, if we were to buy one, we wouldn't cut corners (especially after this past weekend) and buy a cheap one. I was visiting my cousin and talking to my aunt in my cousin's bedroom. Sat down on her memory foam mattress (from Costco) and it was very uncomfortable. In fact one side has already formed a sink hole. My cousin says she's going to take it back to Costco and get another one, I personally wouldn't bother.

I'm glad this topic came up because I'm on the verge of wanting a Tempurpedic too. Normally Costco hits a home run with their copies of things, but the Costco MF mattresses aren't getting good reviews. People love that they can return them with zero problem, but returning it at all is a problem for me. I don't want to go through with that.

Everyone I know who owns a TP brand one says they love it. What to do?
I'm considering finding a hotel that has them and staying over a night.. how else are you really supposed to know? They all feel good when you lay down in the store.

We tried out the Sleep Number bed, but I can't get past the fact that it's basically an air mattress.

Another vote for Tempurpedic brand memory foam. We used to have an old spring mattress that bounced and wobbled at every movement of our tiny 7 lb cat (or me as I tossed and turned).

One of the only downsides of the Tempurpedic is when you go and stay at hotels or where ever and you realize when you sleep at home you stay in the same position more and don't turnover as much which doesn't work on inferior beds and you sometimes wake up sore and wishing you were home.

Sleep Number beds sell or used to sell a mattress topper. I bought one for my daughter when she was living in uni res. She said it was was very comfortable...unfortunately it sprung a leak after about 10 months. I then bought her a memory foam mattress topper from my favourite store...Costco. She loved it.

We have two of them, one in the guest bedroom, one in our master bedroom and I'm in Houston and the guest bedroom one is for sale (PM me if interested - nice price. Used 2x. American Queen.)

We love ours. For two reasons - my husband can sleep on his side without pain. He has shoulder/rotator cuff issues. Secondly, when he bounces about, I don't feel it, and sleep fine.

We bought ours in the UK, the Tempur-pedic Delux, which has extra layers of foam that ventilate to ensure a less-hot experience, and a cool-weave cover (with yet another layer of foam) that can be taken off and washed. This cover made a huge difference to us in the difference in heat (these foam beds retain body heat) from the velour type covers that we experienced on other Tempur-pedic beds.

Additionally, the UK Tempurs are sold without a tempur foundation, which tends to assist in retaining body heat too. Ours sits on a platform bed with slats for ventilation.

We are needing to replace the guest bedroom mattress with something traditional, as guests don't seem to like having to 'experience' a new mattress without their consent.

Use the Ikea natural latex ones. No heat issues with them, even in an Arizona summer.

Denver Mattress does some great mattresses. I like mine. Nice and firm. And everyone who sleeps on it concurs.

Not sure if you flatlanders can get it.

70F? I'd be passing out if my bedroom was that hot. Before we moved over here, we actually managed to get our bedroom back in Scotland below 0C during the winter. Absolute bliss. I quite fancy a Tempurpedic bed but if the room has to be warm there's no point. I think they do 90 day trials though so we might give it a shot.

I stayed in a hotel recently and complained the aircon wasn't working, to be told it will only kick in if the temperature is above 65F. Seems a bit pointless to me. Mind you, we're in the process of buying a house which only has AC on the upper floor. I've a feeling we'll be extending that throughout the house before too long!
