In the summer it is uncomfortably hot and prone to tornadoes. In the winter it can be bitterly cold." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programme...nt/7154551.stm They seem to be into 'religion' too... |

Re: Manhattan. Kansas?
I drove the entire length of route 56 in KS once, it took all of one day and the morning of the next, small towns sparsley scattered, I stopped at one truckstop for the night, realised I was the only truck driver among a hoard of nasty Mexicans and promptly carried on (F**K the log) to Dodge City.

Good BBQ in Kansas City. What else....hmmm....
Some factoids about Kansas City... * More fountains per capita than any other city including Rome. * Home of.... Hallmark Sprint Operational Headquarters AMC Movie Theaters Cerner H&R Block Garmin Industries (GPS) Honeywell * Very historic point in the development of Jazz * Location of the Negro Baseball League Museum * There is a point where you can see two states, four counties, two major rivers (Missouri and Kansas [Kaw]) * Famous for it's boulevards * The largest city in Missouri (a measure of square miles for the city limits not accounting for size of metro area) * Home of President Truman * You mentioned BBQ, Gates, Arthur Bryants (yummmmy), Winslows and others As for Kansas, well let me see here. It's flat. The cities aren't large. It's blah blah blah. It's a state to go through from Kansas City to Denver. Nothing spectacular really except at night. There is no sky glow to speak of when you are far into the state and away from the city. The stars just pop out of the sky en force. It's the most beautiful thing I've seen in a long time. As a lover of astronomy it's always a treat to see the sky without light pollution. It comes from living in the city proper for too long. |
