I've lived in the US for 16 years now - transplanted for love
but living in a place that has made the brain a little numb. Don't get me wrong...brill work opportunities, very affordable, lovely place from a scenic standpoint and obviously good enough to hav kept me in the same spot the whole time.. It has always just been lacking a pulse of sorts. I have however, spent the last 6+ years researching where "we" (hubby is US and we've decided to remain stateside) would most like to settle and grow old, raise kids....alll that choc box stuff. I was born and raised in London (various parts) and so miss the city buzz, the culture, a good curry etc. I have also become comfortably accustomed to a bit of green open space and so was looking for the best of both. Taken a total of 9 relocation trips now - further west (we are in Utah), south, back to where my other half is from etc. and have always had Madison in my "files"....no really, I have enormous 3-ring-binder file of research. Took our firt Madison visit earlier this year - LOVED IT. Gone back once since and are going again in 2 weeks. Its vibrant - a college town as noted, so lots going on. Very environmentally aware, fairly liberal. Lots and LOTS of great restaurants - good pubs/bars, great great schools. GREAT people. GORGEOUS scenery being on the two lakes and its possible to live about 5-10 mins out of the city and still have plenty of green but bike into city for a good curry (WAHOO). 3 hours from O'Hare so easy flights home to see fam back across the pond etc.
Anyway, can't wait to move.....
