Gets your student loan paid off quick, doesn't it? Just don't try to think why you spent so much on getting an education in the first place! First jobs for graduates would be lucky to take much more than half that!

Better than watching Smokey and the Bandit re-runs on AMC, though.

My son, with a BA in History is managing a Blockbuster. He's been out of college for 3 years. He now wants to go back and get his masters degree so he can teach. This means student loans. It's a pity he didn't decide to do this when he was a undergraduate, .

Does that mean you are self-employed and working under a contract? If not, then did you work long enough to qualify for unemployment benefits?

Sorry to hear all of this Rince and Luv....I'm sending good vibes your way and hope it all works out soon. Can you relocate if necessary? I think that will be the biggest question. I know we had to move up to Seattle for my husband to find any work at all....talk about expensive!! :scared: :scared: Jeez I don't know how people live up here...or anywhere else in the US anymore. I guess I've been gone a very long time. Sorry, a bit annoyed after spending over a couple of hundred dollars on prescriptions for both hubs and the little one because they were sick....and this was just antibiotics!!!! Morons!
Take care and I'm wishing the best for you guys.

Nice timing. Just got the new car, balanced all my UK credit cards into one monthly payment and thought things were going well.
After all my monthly outgoings for March have been taken care of, I should have about 50c to live on until I get another job.
Fantastic.
Am I the only one that feels like the USA is shitting on them every chance it gets? Or am I in a minority?
Now I have to look around again for a job which is not easy in a small town.
Anyone know how the hell you sell a car that's on finance?

Talking about work and car issues - anyone been on the Rhine and observed the families who work those "standard Rhine issue" barges? The family car is carried on the barge - Wife to hubby: "Honey dear, at the next turn in the river, go and get some six-packs - there's a dear". Drinking and barging is quite an issue - a barge can do some serious damage to a bridge - those babies "move" - the Rhine is like a motorway with lots of barge traffic, there are radar reflecting surfaces hung out sideways from some of the bridges to reduce collisions. I can recommend visiting Mainz - and there is a very quaint (and cheap) hotel near the main train station - really good breakfast and within walking distance of the Rhine and those lovely tourist boat trips - those tourist boats are pretty big things, and they leave exactly on time - like the trains and buses. But boy, do the French smoke a lot and then the Japanese tourists add to the smoke - yuk-ee-dar, but there's the upper deck and "fresh" breezy Rhine air to breath in.

Hard to tell from this distance. I also thought you were a guy for the longest time as well -- because of the nicks and your strong way of writing ;-)
When I see the nick Rincewind, I think Ricewind and think feminine. My apologies to you both. Will now hide behind the use of ungendered pronouns, like it.
