For me, it depends which way I'm flying.
I suffer some jetlag if I'm flying West to East. I did this very recently on flights that equalled nearly 16 hours airtime. I went to sleep during the nighttime of my destination. Jet lag on this trip lasted about 3 days.
On the other hand, on my return flights, East to West, jetlag only lasted a day. Again, I went to sleep at nighttime back in the US and woke up around the same time I normally do if it were a work day.
I don't take melatonin and drink Red Bull either.

anyway, jet lag, easy, sleep it off on the flight and stay awake for the next day and don't eat....the next day, you'll be to hungry and sleepy to worry about the time of day
