Re: loud transformers
Sounds like it could be a problem with the way the transformer core has been made. They are usually a laminated core made up of a stack of thin metal plates. Once assembled they are then given a coat of lacquer to help stop them vibrating at mains frequency. If they haven't been lacquered correctly, the transformer may hum at 60Hz. (or 50Hz in the UK )

Re: loud transformers
If you're talking about step up transformers, they sound a little cheaply made and/or you're using them too close to their power limits. I've got one that I use for some Hifi equipment I brought with me that is silent.

They are DS-1500 from 220-electronics.com, for use with plasmas, 50 and 40 inch. approx 300w consumption. I also bought a 2000w model and its incredibly loud. one 1500w is quieter than the other but they all thrum.?

Re: loud transformers
is it the deceptacons or the autobots that you are having a problem with?
I always find just asking Optimus Prime or Bumblebee to keep the noise down always works for me. That said, due to their evil nature both Starscreen and Megatron tend to make more noise when I ask them to keep it down.

Re: loud transformers
Megatron was definitely louder than Optimus Prime, but it was nothing that a giant can of WD-40 couldn't have cured.
