Looking to move to the USA - IT Professional
Hi there,
I'm new to the forum and just looking for some guidance. I'm 22 years old and hold a first class degree in a computing field (networking/telecomms), I work for the MoD in the UK and have past experience of working for an international forbes 100 company, I also hold IT industry certifications. I've always wanted to work in the USA, I will not be able to be transferred through work so am wondering what my chances would be of finding a job/company willing to sponsor me and where you advise looking for these job roles?
Many thanks in advance!

Please read the two Pulaski wikis in USA section of the wikis tab above.
You either need to have an employer transfer you, find someone to hire you on an H1, which is tricky anyway, but even if you find someone to hire you there is only a 1:2-1:3 chance that you'll actually get a visa anyway. ..... Or, there's on-line dating. No, I am not joking.

To get a feel for the landscape have a look at dice.com and see if there's jobs that you're qualified for and skills that are in demand.

is this deja vu with the internet dating?? but funnily enough I just messaged a couple more girls and actually have a message back! 1 out 6 isn't bad

I don't recall exactly now, but I probably sent a couple of dozen initial messages over a couple of months, and IIRC got four responses, one of which petered out quickly, another two slowly, ..... and one that never did peter out.
So, thinking about it, a 1 in 6 initial response rate would be consistent with my experience.

Better than many job applicants.
