Don't have them around here, never had it. I've heard it was a religious experience though.

Still, doesn't have to be real chicken as long as it tastes good for you (I find it pretty poor myself).

TBH, you can't get a real chicken anywhere. Well, almost anywhere. We just bought a ton of ground turkey and a couple of chickens from here, and the taste is unbelievably better.

Sure, it's criminal the amount of crap the goes on with KFC chickens, but I still like the taste. However, if you believe that even organic, free-range chicken is real chicken, well... You have been misinformed.

brownsville, texas
lousiville, kentucky
tulsa ,oklahoma
augusta ,georgia

now if anyone has any advice on any of these places that would be great, we currently live in cardiff in the uk so we are looking for a low crime area, the last thing i need right now is to move somewhere where i'm gonna have to watch someone with a gun slay my family in front of me:), my wife is a hairdresser and my work is internet based so i don't think we would have any problems with work, i have been looking at property in tulsa and it looks good so we may travel there next month to have a proper look.

the property there is so much better that here and want to find out more about the lifestyle our current 3 bed semi is going up for £200,000 so we'd be looking at property around $200-250,000 usd

I have lived in Edmund....Oklahoma and San Antonio........Texas.
Oklahoma was a great place to bring up a family, we lived about 15 mins from OK City, some areas closer to the City were a bit "iffy", but the suburbs and smaller towns were very safe and friendly, I loved it there, would go back tomorrow, The schools in Edmund were about the best in the State. As for Texas, I didn't enjoy living in San Antonio, it wasn't near as friendly as OK (just my experience) we lived in our house for 2 yrs and never knew our next door neighbors. (yes we tried) Anyway, I know that Austin is really nice, have a friend there and I loved to visit her there.
Good luck, hope you have all your "ducks in a row" or you will have lots of problems.

Otters is good - best of both worlds - nice chicken and nice coating and they do fried mushrooms

I do like the pickle on the sandwich. :o

something along those lines, but lets just say i have already been on to that side of it and it isn't going to be a problem, my main concern is not getting robbed or shot on my way to the local shop:)

I got a gun in the mail with my green card, just as well Boston is not on his list! ;-)

Is this me?:p

Hi all been having a bit of a bad time of it recently, my Mum just passed away and I am seriously considering upping sticks and putting my citizenship to good use. I'd rather be over there, than in the UK being run into the ground by an idiotic one eyed scotsman (Clarkson's words, not mine).

I don't know where to begin, I would like to know I've got work BEFORE leaving but I'm aware that recruiters are not likely to take any application seriously unless I am based in the US already, so how would one cross this precarious bridge? I have 2 children and a long term girlfriend (for those who don't know/remember the saga) obviously I'll have to acquire citizenship for the sprogs and make an honest women of my OH.

I have a background in commercial Insurance but tbh I don't mind turning my hand to anything, in fact returning to outdoor work seems appealing at the moment.

As you can no doubt guess I don't really have a clue about the best way to approach this and I am looking for a gentle nudge in the right direction.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello you. I'm sorry to hear about your mum.

You're probably best to wait until the economy takes a turn for the better. Many companies are closing and people are losing their jobs here. At least in the UK if you don't have a job there's a benefits program...including the NHS...here you'll have zip.

Thanks for the super quick response and for your kind thoughts (she only passed away on 24th February)

Seriously don't want to be here any more. My job might just be coming to an end anyway as the boss is selling up and whilst this would benefit me as a small shareholder to the tune of approx £15,000, if I do not do this now then I may never get around to doing it!

Believe me when I say that things are not very good here financially anymore (or anywhere else really) but it seems that the US will turn things around long before the UK does as we seem to be reacting to almost everything the US does these days anyway.

I take it no one knows a multi-millionaire who likes a british accent and wants to employ someone on a over inflated salary because he's just 'such a nice guy' :D

Start applying for jobs in the US. This internet thing has made that all a whole lot easier. Try monster, careerbuilder, craigslist and dice.

If you can find a job now then it's as good a time as any to move. My company is hiring, so there are definitely jobs out there. Our good friends on this board are all doom and gloom, they are just proving their britishness.

If he can find a job OK...but it's not easy obtaining a job whilst you are living in another country. He has the healthcare of 2 young children and his wife to consider...for many Brits that's a big headache when you are used to the gool old NHS. He also has to get married and apply for his wife's visa.

Hey you, it was you. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss; I hope you're OK.

It could be a totally terrifying time to move, or completely brilliant. You've got a lot to hash over, since your work won't translate directly.
There are a couple of threads going right now about applying for jobs from abroad. One thing that will help you is a US address and a clear demarcation of US citizenship to counteract your foreign resume/CV data. Under normal circumstances it should not have to come up at all in the job hunting phase, but it is inevitable now and you've got to have every edge you can get.
