Have you thought about making the calls the other way, i.e. get the UK
partner to call?

That's what I did using a company called One Tel. (www.onetel.co.uk) You can either
have a free smart box or just dial One Tel's access number.

Calls to the USA are pence a minute (4.3 cents) including VAT at all times. It was
great talking to Cathy and knowing it was costing less than £2 an hour!!

I'd like to wave a flag for Bigzoo too. I use them to call New Zealand for a lot
cheaper than my local phone company here in New Hampshire charges to call someone 20
miles away. Off course I use Bigzoo for that too. (In-state phone calls seem to be a
big ripoff in the US. Why Verizon would charge me more to call the next local area
than to call California I don't know).

Bigzoo is a 'phone card' type service so you can use it from any phone but there is
no physical card. You recharge it online. They've recently made it easier to use from
your own phone so that you no longer have to key a PIN number (it uses caller id).
With a speed dial button setup its almost as good as a 'normal' phone plan.

Cheers Ross

I use this company service also also and have for several years. I used to use their
online purchase phone cards but they would run out of them so tried this dial around
instead. I call Australia for an hour for under $6.00

It is kind of funny. My 1+ carrier is Sprint. I got a letter the other day. My
instate rate is going up to 7 cents, my out of state remains at 5 cents.
