Default Londoners in the USA

Not sure if this is the best place to post this so feel free to shift me Moderator.

Are there any Londoners on the forum that have moved over to the USA and absolutely love it or absolutely hate it?
Would love to read some perspectives from people who have lived and/or worked in London before heading across the pond .

Me me me!! I'm from London!

I hail from Harrow, but have also lived in Hounslow and Luton. I REALLY miss Central London, but I'm glad I don't live in the suburbs anymore. That began to grate on me after a while because I hated the entire lifestyle.

Where are you from? And where are you living now?

I'm from Stanmore originally, but then moved to St Albans in Herts. Lived in Florida for 5 happy years, did have a couple of melt downs when I really craved the British sense of humour, a galaxy bar of chocolate, a night out with my girlfriends for a ruby murray......but learnt to live and settle down with sun everyday, no congestion, low crime, a life at the weekends!!!!
Unfortunately we are now faced with having to go back to the UK. Gotta make the best with the deck of cards, life deals you!!!

I spent all my life in the dingy London suburbs of Southall, Hounslow/Heston and Hayes, absolutely hated it and couldn't wait to get away. Left at 24 and never looked back.
Never once felt homesick in 20 years, nothing I miss about the UK haven't been back in 10 years, wife is twisting my arm t go back next year hope I can get out of it somehow as I have no interest in going back.

I'm London born and bred and unlike some BE members, life in the US is quite OK, thank you. I've lived in the US for six years now and where I live is not much like London. In fact, I can get better Indian food here than in London which is kind of strange.

While not being a Londoner born and bred, I did spend a few years in Ealing before emigrating. I miss London very much, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying myself here in rural MA.

It's a true statement! In London, I didn't see that many Indians eating in Indian restaurants but in my area, I see Indians dining in the Indian restaurants I eat at.

Is this a true test in itself? There are so many Indian restaurants in London (1000+ I'd wager)... I'd love to find the place in the U.S. that had better Indian food than Wembley, Whitechapel, Southall (if the latter counts) - all chocker with Indian clientele.

I lived in Southall, and don't care much for Indian food.

Too much of a good thing?

Seriously - we had friends in Southall who could take it or leave it.
