Calm down everyone, please. We don't need a repeat of the fiasco we created last week. :o
To the OP, meetup.com might be a good option. |

Hi All,
I am looking for advice on the long winded process for application to the US to become a Registered Nurse (have registration in Ireland & UK). I have been looking it all up for a very long time but find it difficult to begin the process. Anyone out there who is in the situation or done this before and would like to share some information would be greatly appreciated!! Thankyouu:D |

Re: London Nurse Wants to move to CALI :)
KeevaUK I did it in 2002. It's a long tedious process but it can be done. These are the steps I took. 1) You need to find someone willing to sponsor you for a Greencard (an employer) 2) You need a VisaScreen certificate, there are quite a few steps to this and it takes a while. You can read about it at http://www.cgfns.org/sections/programs/vs/vssteps.shtml 3) You need to apply to the CA BRN to sit and take the NCLEX RN exam http://www.rn.ca.gov/applicants/lic-exam.shtml 4) At various points some of these agencies will want biometric data from you. 5) Once you pass the NCLEX and get your VisaScreen then you will eventually go to the US embassy in London for interview and a medical exam. 6)Fly It took me about 18 months start to finish. This is an abridged version. |

Actually they are pretty much the same. Research is often best before posting snide comments.
