Las Vegas - Cheap Fun help needed
#1
So I started a new job recently and now they want to send me on an Expo in Vegas. I leave tomorrow and will be there until Wednesday afternoon...
The Expo is the IBM Information On Demand Expo, very dry and very geeky/nerdy/techy so I am going to need an outlet.
This is all good and I know there is a lot to do in Vegas, however cash flow at the moment is a bit thin and won't get first salary until after the trip.
So can anyone recommend some free evening attractions or things to do in Las Vegas so that I do not go mad please...

Make a collection of the little cards for prostitutes which the blokes lining the Strip keep flicking.
Look at the fountains and 'volcano'.

My father in law is Keith Giffen, I'll be honest and say I can't remember if he drew or wrote the Lobo stuff. I am sure I have so duplicated Lobo stuff I can get signed if you want it.

Hi
My DH is also going to this conference. He is also a speaker in 2 of the sessions and is from Southport, Lancs. We also live in NJ so try and hook up with him and have a few beers.
His name is Jim Wood.
Enjoy the conference

I've been to Vegas three times not but don't gamble. It is entertaining though - and perfectly acceptable - to watch others gamble. It's also fine to walk into a casino with drinks bought elsewhere. Many of the mini themed shopping malls that are attached to the casinos have outlets that sell frozen cocktails for half the price of the casinos. My favourite was to visit the Planet Hollywood casino - more of a lively vibe (and fitter birds) that the others - and grab a cocktail from the Miracle Mile shops (from a place just next to one of the rear entrances of the main casino floor - not from the overpriced Cabo Wabo place near the front entrance). From there you're also close to the Bellagio fountains (just across the street) and also pretty much everything else (you're at the centre of the Strip).
Fremont Street with it's free light shows and cheaper, more down-market places is also worth a bus ride.
Oh, and we went to the cheap tickets booth near the MGM and managed to pick up seats for a topless lesbian vampire trapeze show for around $20. Topless lesbian vampire trapeze shows go for twice that round our way so Mrs tonrob and I considered this the bargain of the trip.

Tried searching for your darling DH at the conference without any joy. get him to email me at <snip> and I will look to meet up with him here, if not in Jersey as a worse case scenario.
