Labor Day...Summers done

Re: Labor Day...Summers done
Summers done huh? I just read today in the newspaper that we have had the hottest summer on record here in Austin, and boy does my electricity bill tell me that! Sad thing is we're no done yet, we still have at least another month, then it may get 'cold' i.e. down in the 70's with the odd hot day when the A/C will be on and maybe even the heating (all in the same day).
We might have the odd freezing day in Jan-Feb. Then it's back to 100's once May comes. No real fall, no real winter, no real spring. TX has two seasons, not so hot and hotter than hell. Can anyone tell that after 6 years of it, I am getting a little bit pissed off with wearing shorts for 9 months of the year?
Still around Oct the grass will stop growing and I get a 6 month rest from cutting the bloody stuff in a 100-degree sauna.
Actually come to think of it, the 'winter' here in TX is the best time of year. It's often in the 70's with huge blue skies that go on forever. We can still BBQ in November and the flying is great, my plane leaps into the cool, smooth air. Maybe life's not so bad!

We went to an Ohio State football game. Not much of a game (43-0) but a fun experience nonetheless. I have a pink raccoon sunburn thanks to my sunglasses though.

Spent the weekend doing gardening and painting our office. Wasn't exactly relaxing, but at least we got the chance to bbq a nice steak last night.

I took Friday off and pretty relaxing weekend. Did some tidying on Friday, went into NYC and played bocce with some friends on Saturday (which involved 6 of us going through about 8 bottles of wine, then going to one bar for beer and sliders, then to another bar for more beer). Sunday, watched Son of Rambow at home, then went out to see Tropic Thunder. Yesterday, mostly watched tennis, then went to the pub to play trivia. Almost a perfect weekend if you discount the tidying part...

Try moving about 500 miles north and see how much you 'DON'T' love the fall .... and winter Don't even go there.

I'm glad it's done - too fe*ckin humid, too many bugs and too many tourists here in Lancaster. As an Arryan of Scandinavian extraction (somewhere along the way) I'm looking forward to the snow and ice - luverly.

Hey, thanks to all the action weather wise, we're getting some nice breezes that have whisked away the humidity.
