Default L2 visa quesion

Hi
I have a little question about getting an L2 visa.
I just got my l1 visa, and i want my girlfriend to come with me to the U.S.
I understand that we must get married in order to get her an L2 visa.
Can she come with me to the U.S. with a tourist visa, and than after a couple of month we will get married (IN THE U.S)?
Is there any problem with my plan?

No, there is no problem with your plan. It will work just fine.

Oops, I forgot one thing. Your girlfriend must obtain a B-2 visa from a U.S.
consular post, and enter the U.S. in B-2 status, to do this.

If she enters in visa waiver status (WT) which is available to citizens of certain
countries, she cannot change to L-2. WT status is granted for 90 days, and no
extension or change of status is allowed. If she entered in WT status, she would
have to leave the U.S. after marriage, get an L-2 visa, and re-enter in L-2 status.

By the way, I have heard that it's O.K. for her to tell the consular post that she
intends to marry you and change to L-2. The B-2 can act as a sort of fiance visa for
a person who will enter the U.S., marry and obtain dependent nonimmigrant status.
