Heard on the radio that 90 out of every 100 people in the US owns a gun this morning. Scared the living crap out of me.

A few nights ago around 10.30 pm someone knocked at our door...we could see it was quite a large guy with long hair. There was no car to be seen so we didn't answer the door...instead my husband called the local police. They picked the guy up shortly afterwards in the woods nearby. He was a druggie who had escaped earlier that day and the police had been searching for him. There are only 3 houses on our road and it's quite rural...not the sort of place you would normally find people walking around. He is now back behind bars. Makes one wonder what could have happened if we'd opened the door.

maybe 90 guns for every 100 people, certainly not 90 out of 100 people |

If, from what you say, the last crime was 20 years ago in your area, and this was an isolated case (albeit extremely un-nerving), why are you even considering getting a gun? They clearly scare you, so why go that route? I'm confused  |

How terrifying for both of you! Good to know that you are safe and nothing happened.
What you need is a golden lab. The growl and bark would scare anyone! |
