I'm sorry to OP for hijacking this thread, btw
What county are you? We have been looking at irvine/tustin for our kids to do their schooling, I take it your kids are in public schools, we are going to be putting ours in public school, just trying to figure out best unified area, have been reading up and irvine seems pretty good??

I'm not familiar with that area I'm afraid, we are miles away from you in Las Virgenes school district. This is considered very good and the reason we paid stupid money for a house, it doesn't help that much because they all suffer from state cuts, all you get is parents in wealthy areas trying to fund-raise a bit more maybe? Sorry to sound negative but I'm not impressed by the school facilities here compared to where we came from in the West Midlands.

hi,

i have been living in california for several years now - my girls are at university now and although i was very critical of the education - high school in california when i first arrived i look back and see my girls had a better educational experience than in london. I am a professor in a university in los angeles now and see the massive cuts which are taking place across the CSU system and in education generally. however, there are still pockets of good education in california i do not think it is all doom and gloom.

I agree its not all doom and gloom, but when you are thinking about emigrating to 'anywhere else' in the world with 3 kids. California wouldn't be my 1st choice.
