Jobs for NHS Information Analyst in NJ/NY
Hi All,
We will be moving this summer to NJ as husband will be on L1 visa for few years. I work here for the NHS in a senior role as an Information Analyst. I was wondering if they have such roles in the US utilising skills in SQL, Access, Excel, crystal reports etc in Healthcare Industry/Hospitals.
I will appreciate any feedback on which website to look etc
Many Thanks
Meghna

Seriously, if you want to remain in the healthcare industry, do a search on the larger job dot coms.
Those applications are used through the corporate industry.

There are such jobs advertised, though whether you'd be an exact fit obviously depends on your detailed skills and experience. Some companies seem to specialise in healthcare software, but are not healthcare providers themselves, but I've seen the adverts often say "healthcare experience desired". Also look for hospitals, find out the corporation behind them, and then look at the corporation's careers page to see if they need IT people. Or just look on general job websites like Monster, careerbuilder, etc.

Most healthcare IT jobs (programming) in US are specific to interpreting the regulations, and state regulatory filings and reporting related. Other jobs are straight mundane IT jobs requiring backups, help-desk support.
Write up a page or two of what specific you do for NHS in the IT field and how is that going to benefit a potential healthcare HR or companies that provide IT services to Healthcare.

Also look at linkedin.com
It is useful to help build networks on tech jobs (and others). And people (recruiters) sometimes pick out CVs from there.
So if you have been particularly involved with TDS or other industry specific software you might include that in the profile pages then when people search they'll pick you up.
Also if you know people at the software company provider end (assuming you have some 3rd party stuff) see if you can find them on linkedin and ...well link in to them :-) They might have other people on their lists at different areas of the company who are the contact you need.
Bit like facebook in a way.
Hope the above makes sense. And it's true. I linkedin recently on a friend who recently changed jobs. And in looking at his list he was linked to another friend of a friend who recently moved from that company and he knew him really well but I never knew of that connection. It really is becoming a small world (especially in certain realms of IT!) Was it 6 degrees of sepration? feels like 2 and a half these days.
Only problem is trying to make sure people link in to your proposed change in geography. Not sure how you'd do that.
