Job hunting in the USA
Hi All, I'm after some advice please on job hunting in the USA.
I'm British and my wife is American. After 4 years in the UK in which she has gained dual citizenship we're now looking at moving over to the US. So I have the visa process to go through now.
My question is what is the best way to look for work in the US? I'm a Sales Manager with a team of 15 reps. In her home city of Jax, FL, there don't seem to be the sort of recruitment agencies we use in the UK, so I'm finding it hard to see how employable I am as a Sales Manager over there.
Does anyone have any advice on how I should approach looking for work in the US whilst I go through the visa process here in the UK? Thanks in advance.

Get a LinkedIn account. Network with others in your field. Make sure your resume is a US format and all spelling is USA style. Use a US address and phone number, even if it's a family member or friend's. Then sit back and wait for absolutely nothing to happen until you are physically inside the USA, and even then, be prepared to continue waiting. Don't be surprised if you submit 100 resumes and hear nothing back.

As someone who came from a specialized field in the UK, I've found LinkedIn as helpful as a chocolate teapot. You may have more luck though. Indeed.com is a great site for job listings.

Re: Job hunting in the USA
I am from the US New Jersey and been living in the UK for 15 years. I am planning to move to Tampa Florida, my friend who lives in Florida say there are a lot of sales jobs at the moment and health care jobs are in high demand. She is in sales working at home but the company main office is in NY. You wont find any problems for sales jobs, but bear in mind as she said a lot of them are straight commission. Go onto indeed and monster as previous member recommend, I find LinkIn to be useless. I got an app on my phone called Jobtop.org, this is for all jobs in the states, as I am in the same situation my self, I am try to find work from here before I move there. But as others have stated, you have to be there for interview etc. But research research so you have an idea what jobs there are. Good luck

I've got family members who are in sales roles here.
It's a tough gig - all numbers and targets. Great bonuses and trips etc. when times are good, but in general very little financial security and stability.
There are recruiters here, I used one to americanize my CV when I arrived. LinkedIn has been very useful for me, but depending on industry and role YMMV.

Thanks for all the replies and insight. Ref recruiters to help with cv/resume design, any suggestions?
