Info for Washington Mutual Customers
I have a little gem of information that I wanted to pass along to all of you Washington Mutual customers who have an “Original Free Checking” Account (where you have to pay for cheques)
Go into your local branch and ask them to change it to the new WAMU Free Checking account (includes free cheques and debit card rewards) the process takes about a minute (for me), no paperwork, your account number stays the same and you keep your current Debit card
Then if you are signed up for online banking, login to www.wamu.com and you can signup for an Online Savings account that pays 5% APY (if you link it to your new checking account)
Lastly, if you want you can call customer service and ask them to link your Debit card to the savings account
Hope this hasn’t been posted before, I did a search but could not see anything
