I haven't been there before if you remember the name of the hotel please contact me I would like to know!!!!!

Sarasota isn't too bad. The beaches are generally quiet.

Yup, all it needs is a spark and riot city it shall be, again. I detest going across there. The only time I do is when we have first time visitors to the place, and we drive across the Courtney and then down Gulf Blvd - down to the Skyway, and then hoof it to Siesta Key. It is very 'third worldy' and by that I mean the unpainted DUMPS along the sides of the road all the way down the Peninsula, excepting for some spots here and there.

I am EXTREMELY biased against the place - first week here friends took us down to Madeira Beach and I watched a chocolate log float merrily down about 2 feet away from me...never again - I scrubbed myself raw that night.

Shudder.

I think the hotel was the Marriott suites on Sand Key, Clearwater Beach. I don't know what it's like now, but it was very nice at the time 4 or 5 years ago. There was also a really nice Cuban resturant just down the board walk, can't remember what it was called though.
