If it's on HBO, it might be good. If it is on any of the free or basic cable channels then it will be crap.

Because most Americans can't understand all the slang we use so decide to create their own version. I watched the UK version of Skins on BBC America, it had subtitles!! You'd have thought by now they would have learned not to mess with something that works so well.

I thought the BBC original was great. I was their age 40+ years ago but it still held true for those times. I'm laughing now just thinking of some of the scenes. My wife who is American didnt see the funny side of it at all. Did it relate more to us neanderthal men.

My (USC) wife loves a lot of British comedy (Men Behaving Badly etc). The only issue might be with certain accents, but she's put up with my shows so long now that I think she can handle most anything.
