Immigration Probs Help !!
Hello Everyone,
I am new to this....so bear with me Long story (ill make it short)anyway here goes. I am American and my fiance Chris,is English. We met a year ago in London....where I was living (almost 10 yrs)......I had to return to the US in September 2004......and we have maintained a relationship since. He has been back and forth to see me. He finally proposed LOL
but now we have a problem.
The plan was for him to get a fiance visa to come back here to get married and live for 2 years until I finished University. Problem is I didnt know that a fiance visa could take up to 8 months to process..... Then wait for work permits etc.... I cant be away from him that long.....It's hard. I was wondering if I flew back to the UK and married him there and went to the USA embassy would that be faster?? If so how much faster (more or less).....I am considering actually marrying him here and going to the UK consulate in Atlanta GA and applying for a spousal visa for me to come back to the UK.......seems VERY straightfoward and could possibly get the visa the same day !!!!!!!!!
What is the deal with US immigration?? Too many papers, police reports, dental, doctor, prove that I am 125% over poverty limit etc etc for him to be able to come over......and With the UK Consul (for me to go there) its an hour process?! Any ideas on how to get him here fast?? Or the easiest way period?..........Thanks, Mickie

You should look for advice in the USA Marriage-Based Visa forum.
Saying that, yes, the process takes a good while. If you have two years of uni left, how will you support the two of you while he acquires the appropriate work permits AND gets a job? What are his work prospects here? What is his work history like in the UK?
The biggest jolt that I find is that there may be a significant increase or decrease in pay for doing the same job in the US compared with the UK. You'd have an easier time going over there to finish uni while he works.
Do you plan to live in the US or the UK after you are married?
Again, some things to think about, but do post in the other forum for more detailed advice.
