Not true. Some coral snakes are described as have white bands, not yellow. Here's one in Arizona:

And that one has the rhyme, black on white, you're alright, black on red, you're dead. I think that's the way it goes. Have to look it up. You'd have to near be asleep for one of them to get you. They don't strike like rattlers et al. They slide on up and chew on you, and hang on.
