How's your day going so far?
WTF?
Who started this?
What inane 'customer greeting' will they think of next?
Any suggestions for witty retorts gratefully received...

"It WAS going fine..."
"Same as usual....1 hour after another."
"Look...Drop the inane insincere crap and cut to the chase eh? As lets be perfectly honest here, you couldnt give a rats ass how my day is going so far just so long as you (A) Get paid (B) Get to take my money before I quit in the face of mindless corporate bull. Now...lets start again shall we?"

"Another wonderful day in paradise. Et tu?" is my usual retort. Don't know whether they get the sarcasm entwined in my voice, though.

The thing is, I actually feel sorry for the guys + gals that have to ask me this. It's clearly store policy and they probably hate having to ask this as much as I hate it being asked...

If you fancy a chat (and there's not a queue behind you!), I usually ask them whether it's a good company to work for. Always draws them out, one way or the other!

Wonderful thankyou. And why is that you may ask? Well I will tell you to save you asking. I am now walking around the house unaided for those that know I had a THR 5 weeks ago.

It pisses me off when checkout staff ask me for my telephone number, even when I'm paying cash, I usually just say "only if you give me yours", which generally freaks them out

One response is to take them seriously and when asked "How's your day going so far?" launch into a detailed description of what you had for breakfast, where you walked the dog, what the traffic was like, what your planning for dinner....... and watch the amazement on their face when they realise you are insane LOL
Wouldn't really do this cos I can't be bothered and I feel sorry for the poor buggers who are made to recite a company policy greeting too.
