We have friends who live in Richmond Texas and have worked in Katy before and tell me its a nice place.
We are not wild crazy kids anymore so a nice porch is about my limit

omg if you don't have kids then katy is not for you imo, we lived there for 3 long yrs in 'lakeforest' a nice subdivision (you can pull the subdivisions up on har.com)...but it was like being in isolation
all the food chain restaurants are out in katy and cater for families complete with sand pits outside....
be careful and be prepared for a huge culture shock esp if you have no kids, maybe just rent in katy for 6 mths....
richmond is also way out there...tread carefully and good luck

Re: Houston a nice place?
I remember seeing Katy Texas on a home Remodling show a few years ago, where they pitted 3 couples against each other to totally remodel all the rooms in the house, with the winner each week getting prizes and at the end of the show, one of the teams actually won the house. It looks like a very nice neighborhood.
