Can anybody offer any advice?
Has anybody been offered a green card via the lottery?
Would we be best seeking legal help?

if they paid by credit card..they should try and get it charged back.
I cannot see a time in the future when the UK will be eligble for the lottery..too many coming over from there every year..
If you thinking of buying a business over here.. do a search for E-2 visa...If you are thinking of getting a job... you will need to be very highly qualified in a US needed Occupation.
Pulaski...we need your list

Allow me if you will to copy and paste (this excellent and quite comprehensive list of qualifying criteria originally written by Pulaski):
There are basically six ways that you can get a visa to live and work in the US (or seven if you have a close family member who can sponsor you):
(i) Marriage (or engagement in anticipation of marriage) to a US citizen.
(ii) You have skills that are in short supply in the US e.g. IT, scientific or medical training.
(iii) You have an employer who is willing to transfer you - but even the employer has to make a good case for you - so you have to be a manager unless you fall under category (ii), above.
(iv)get a greencard in the diversity lottery (UK citizens, except N.Ireland are not eligible)
(v) You own a business (does not get you permanent resident status .e. no greencard)
(vi) You are an "investor" i.e. you have at least US$1m in assets to bring with you.

I very much doubt that the UK citizens will ever be allowed to apply for the Green Card Lottery. There is no "exclusion", simply no need for inclusion as the purpose of the lottery is to increase diversity, and there are already many (and an increasing number of) Brits in the US.

Pulaski, isn't this the time for you to re-type your classic "there are seven ways to enter the United States" post? It's been at least... oh - a week since I've seen it".
Obviously it's not posted itself this time

Wow, no sooner had I spoken...
You know what's scary Pulaski, not only do I know what's going to be posted in your name, but I also saw Clarkson on telly the other day and thought "what's Pulaski doing on tv"! Somehow I associate you with the picture.
On that principle, I think I should post a pic of Brad Pitt next to my name, rather than a chilled moon.
