Hoping to buy a biz in North Carolina..any help?
Hi,
I have posted this on the general USA forum site also. My husband and I are hoping to buy a biz to obtain an E-Visa. We own property in NC and go there whenever we can for holidays. We have tried unsucessfully for a few years to emigrate to the US, and have now decided to go down the E-Visa route. We have a lawyer here in the UK to help us with the visa processing, but I really need to know how to start off. We have an idea of what company to purchase, we have a little capitol, but does anyone know how else to finance this, ie business loan etc,
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance....

If you have to get loans to buy the business you are under capitalized
and will start with a serious disadvantage ..

I dissent. Debt financing is a perfectly legitimate way to start a
business. Further, debt financing works for E-2 so long as the debt is
not secured by the assets of the business.
The OP should, however, consult a business attorney in NC to verify
compliance with NC corporate law assuming the business purchased will be
a separate legal entity. Some states have additional restrictions on
the form of investment.

Thanks for the positive feedback. Good idea to consult with a business attorney in NC. We have a bank account over there also, so we will contact them to see if they would be prepared to offer us a loan, wasn't sure if there were any special companies, that specifically dealt with overseas business loans.
