Default Here comes the hurricanes...

TS Bertha has formed and is current on a crash course with most of the US East Coast (i.e. they don't know where it is going yet).

Oh joy, here we go again...

Well since it's 1310 miles from the northern Leeward islands, we've got a bit to go yet. Projected path a week from now will be interesting-could be headed in my direction.

I was in Norfolk this past weekend and the smell and haze created by the NC forest fire(s?) was a nuisance.

It didn't seem to effect the local wildlife especially the pesky Canada geese roaming in the backyard.

Who names these things?
Hurricane Bertha? Hurricane Katrina? Wendall? Rupert? Glenda? Gladys? Iris?
Maybe people subconsciously ignore the warnings that precede hurricanes because the names are non-threatening.

I say we should give them scarier monickers like Tropical Storm Helter Skelter, Cyclone Ghengis, Hurricane Sonofabitch or Hurricane Oh F uck!

That reminds me of this bit from comedian Greg Morton. I'd embed but I'm providing the link for obvious reasons.

Right now I am glad I am not on Bermuda and that I don't have any clients headed that way.

Latest track has it moving a bit East of Bermuda so maybe they'll be spared.

Here is the list of 2008 Hurricanes. Names repeat every so often (we had a Bertha in 1996). They only go off the rotation when they're really bad and cause major damage (Katrina, Andrew, Fran, etc)

2008 Hurricane Names

Arthur
Bertha
Cristobal
Dolly
Edouard
Fay
Gustav
Hanna
Ike
Josephine
Kyle
Laura
Marco
Nana
Omar
Paloma
Rene
Sally
Teddy

I'm not...must be because I'm a gentle, calming soul.

I do think the halo on my angel smilie should be larger.
