I really think you should take heed of what the others who have been there done that, have to say. You can't go leaping ahead into planning stages without knowing if you're going to get a visa, least of all in the state you want.
You are limiting yourself somewhat with just picking FL. Don't get stuck into the small details at the moment. Get the visa then take it from there. It's pretty much all any of us can do.

I've probably missed the part of this thread where you mentioned what kind of job you are looking for.... What is it?
Florida typically doesn't pay that well mate! -- I love visiting my dad there, but wouldn't live there.

I know you need the visa before you can do anything, I just wanted to know more detail..thats all..
I do appreciate all the information given by you all, but what I do not appreciate is abuse..Manc started to get abusive.
Thanks to all who answered my "many" questions..
By the way...I'm in I.T.. have been for 18 years.

Look beyond Florida, get the visa first and THEN in time look around to find out where you want to settle down. You cannot be picky with regards H1B visa's because they're not giving them out in droves.

as I said, worry about the possibility of getting a visa before worrying yourself about the trivial stuff.
You can do all this research on the schools in Florida, but if a sposoring company wants you to work in Oregon, then the research does nothing.

I only said it twice before on this thread, yet you're asking questions about buying a house? school?
I feel like banging my head on a brick wall.............
Ray and Sibsie also agreed with me, maybe not my words, but in principle, you need a visa first and foremost. It is difficult to take you seriously when talking about buying a house when you haven't the faintest chance of buying oneover here in the near future.

I don't see any problem in asking questions regarding living here and planning ahead. Although it is a bit presumptive to think that he will get a visa for Florida, people have to know what they are letting themselves in for and plan ahead. It's better to have an idea of what your going to encounter now, than after you've moved here.
What about the person who has already decided on a house and put down a deposit before even finding a business to buy, let alone arrange the visa? People weren't as harse to them.
Scubadude, for your information, you can get a mortgage whist on a H-1b visa, so you don't have to rent if you don't want to.

Look beyond FL too.........People got on holiday there and look at things through rose tinted glasses (as they do anywhere) and instantly want to move someplace they really have no idea about.
The USA is a great and big place, if it does fall through, don't limit yourself to one neck of the woods.
