Re: help to emmigrate to orland

The US is in a recession at the moment in case you didn't know that. That means that lots of mom and pop operations are closing down due to lack of buying power by consumers. This is particularly true in Florida where fewer people will be visiting the Disney resorts due to limited cash flow. Good luck.

Haven't you had this dicussion already?

Basically if you want to start a business you will need a lot of money - I think people suggest $500,000 - as well as money to live on.

But even if you have this, the bigger problem is you will not be permanent residents and the visa that allows you do this would not give you a path to this, your children would have to leave once they reach 21 unless they can get their own visas.

You are not in limbo at all.

You cannot move to the USA.

The USA doesn't want you. There is no-one to contact

You think you're in limbo.............
The USA thinks you're never moving ever.

That's not limbo, that's the blunt harsh reality. You're NEVER moving to the USA based on what you've told us.

I've got more chance of being an astronaut that you landing a visa to live in Kissimmee........

So stop pissing in the wind with this and either look at another country or get on with your lives.

sorry to break it to you like that, but the softly softly approach isn't obviously working.

Ok ..I am the Florida Man ... its pretty easy really ...

1. do you have around $200K for the business ..
and another $200k for incidental, house , cars etc...

2. go to Florida find a business you are interested in

3, get attorney, accountant etc

4. Do your due dilligence

5. Make you offer subject to visa. money goes into escrow

6. file business plan and visa application with consulate

7. Interview and Consulate decision

How much cash do you have? As Ray has pointed out, you'd need money to buy the business and money to buy house/cars/furniture/appliances. How will you pay for health insurance for yourselves and 4 kids? Do you have enough money to send kids to American colleges?

Since you're not listening to anyone here, pay for a consultation from the London lawyer that Ray recommended.

My initial suggestion in this thread would simply be that the people telling you things other than what Ray and Manc have already repeated in this thread are being sarcastic simply because you've got no chance of moving to the US but you're unwilling to accept that from anyone.

The US immigration rules exist simply to keep foreigners OUT and unless you meet some very specific criteria or you fit into the category of being a person of interest that the US thinks it needs (which you don't), it isn't going to happen. The US immigration world does not have grey areas. It functions in black and white... Yes and No... and, based on what you've said, unfortunately it's a "No". Sorry.

I'm curious as to what you perceive this "new life" would be like? I'm not being sarcastic, just curious, as we moved here with the same mindset as you, and 3 years later could tell you a few home truths.

So, tell us, how do you think your life would be better here?

Sweet4 you mentioned in your thread on south of france that your husband was Turkish, if this is the case you might qualify for the DV lottery. It's closed for this year but might be worth checking to apply for next year? more info available here:

If that's the case, I'd rather live on the Turkish Mediterranean coast, rather than the USA! :D

I wouldn't make any plans based on the DV lottery, could take years before you get picked, then you've got to spend the money for the visa and might not even get it.

A mates mother kept applying each year more for a laugh, they eventually got it and came over, took 10 years before they won the lottery. They, bar my mates sister all moved back within 3 years. He's now living in South Africa and the last time I spoke, his folks retired to a golf course in Spain and spend the winter in various other countries. They were Dutch btw.

Re: help to emmigrate to orland

Sweet4 - I read your last post, and I've read this one - a rather cheeky attempt to start a new thraed and hope that the advice will be different, and you'll get the answer you are looking for. ;) I do have some sympathy, but you do need to listen to the advice you've been given, because - although it's not always presented in the most palatable way - it's the truth. I can imagine how much you love Orlando - I love it too. I first visited in 1992, and fell in love with the US. I, like you, looked into moving to the States, thinking 'how difficult can it be?'. I soon found out that it is difficult, it's almost impossible. You can really only get a visa if you have a job to go to, or a lot of money to invest. I have managed it, though. But it took me 16 (yes, sixteen !) years of trying. I worked my way up through my career, and have reached a senior level where my skills are rare, and have been living in the US (in Connecticut) for the past 9 months. But I waited 16 years for my opportunity - and I was extremely lucky! I was 24 when I first came to the US, and I'm now 40! However, now that I'm here, I realize that there are many things about living in the US that do not make it the paradise that we all think it is when we only visit for holidays. The UK beats the US hands on a number of issues that we Brits take for granted.

My advice to you is that you should make the most of your life in the UK, spend as little money as you can there, and save and save for your holidays in orlando. I used to do just that - and would have 3-4 holidays here a year. You'll keep the dream alive longer that way, and keep it special! This is honest, heartfelt advice from someone that has been where you are. Please, take heed. :)
