Thumbs up Hell's Kitchen & Dancing With The Stars

Two new British TV productions have their premieres on US television screens this week:

"Hell's Kitchen" with top English chef Gordon Ramsay starts tonight on Fox:

http://www.fox.com (there is a video interview with Ramsay on the home page)

I'm sure that it will be heavily edited to take the 'effing and blinding' out of it LOL!

and on our way back from our road trip yesterday we were buying ice-creams and on the TV in the shop there was a clip for "Dancing With The Stars" (I think it's called 'Celebrity Ballroom Dancing' in the UK). I spotted Julian Clary, and Rod Stewart's ex, Rachel Hunter was prominently featured in the clip which you can see here:

http://www.abc.com (click on 'Dancing with the Stars').

It starts on Wednesday.....somehow it's a shame that Bruce Forsyth won't be in the US edition.....

Did anyone else watch this? I thought it was great!! The look on the contestants faces when he sampled their food and then told them what he thought was priceless Will be interesting to see what the reaction in the US is. It didn't look like they had toned Gordon down for the US audiences. He was just as politically incorrect as ever, telling customers to f** off back to their plastic surgeons and calling one of the contestants large boy.

I saw Hell's Kitchen. Is Gordon Ramsey really like that? I thought it seemed a bit OTT.

I think he is pretty much like that anyway. There was a 'fly on the wall' show of Ramsey opening a restaurant on BBC and he was very obnoxious in that, always insulting people and firing them for the slightest thing. Apparently there was also a show a few years back in the UK called bosses from hell, which included Ramsey -- someone had got a job in his restaurant and secretly filmed his outrageous behavior.

Funniest line;

Customer- 'Hey chef youve upset my friend by telling her to F##k off!'

Ramsey- 'Yes and you can tell her I meant it...now go back to the plastic surgeon you Bimbo'

Their faces priceless.

He's quite entertaining to watch but he does rather overegg the custard. Plus he's popping up absolutely everywhere at the moment.

I wonder what he'll do in 10 years' time when he's rude repartees will have gone stale and his cooking perhaps is no longer quite the 'in' thing...

I like this guy! He's so wonderfully un-PC he's such a breath of fresh air. Wonder if the yanks will like him.

Not sure about that "Dancing with the Stars" jobbie though... they interviewed Joey McIntyre on a local radio station this morning, saying how they were all rooting for him and generally bowing down to him. Ick!

I like Ramsey, but I don't think the US TV viewers will because he is really blunt and nasty, where as Simon Cowell and Ann Robinson did it with a hint of a laugh and a joke.

I thought it was pretty funny, especially when he told those blond bints to go back to there plastic surgeons

But then the winner does get a restaurant business that he's bank rolling pretty much...
The back stabbing was funny too

I watched it, and found it funny.......

However, I am wondering if its on a par with that (ahem) "reality casino show"......that was actually scripted all along.....

It seems staged to me, so I dont know if i can enjoy it

some of the comments were very funny though

Talking Re: Hell's Kitchen & Dancing With The Stars

I thought Hells Kitchen was a bit too much like The Apprentice, only with ovens..!

Im not sure how wise it is to upset 12 people who are all holding filet knives, but im sure hew knows what he's doing! Its fun though, and he is certainly entertaining to watch.
