Hello from New Jersey
#1
Well we are all here, settling in and bumping the economy by buying lots of stuff for the house which seems a lot bigger than I remember!
We are steadily making our way through the list of stuff to do, SSN number for Hubby is on its way, I'll sort mine out and the kids denial letters as soon as I can. Kids being registered for school tomorrow and we are off with our Relocation wifey to lease two new cars, think we are going Ford Edge for me and Fusion for him. I do not want to know how much insurance will be, nah nah nah.
Obviously we are all cabled and broadbanded up, that was a vital first thing to do. Thanks to the Optimum man, he was a proper cool dude who practically begged my Hubby for a job!
Thanks for all your help in the last few months, even if you didn't realise you were giving it, all the info in the various threads has helped immensely.
Can't believe we are actually here.

aaah Monmouth County - whenever we fancy a day at the beach (or at the shore as they say in Jersey) we normally go to Ocean Grove in Neptune Township. That and going to a few meetings in Freehold for work is pretty much my total experience of your area.
Welcome to New Jersey

We still don't have enough cash to buy 2nd hand and with three kids I'm not driving a wreck.
Are you suggesting that within a week of being here we apply for a loan??
That leaves leasing. We have enough for the deposit and can afford the monthly payments and gives us peace of mind of saftey and reliability.
Most definitly don't have money to burn, just a lack of options.

Welcome to New Jersey

Freehold is just next door, the Freehold Raceway Mall is so much bigger than anything I'm used to, quite amazing!
I've looked at a map and aren't you near those lovely Real New Jersey Housewives?

Hmmm... perhaps you can answer a question for me... Why are some recliners so enormous that at 5'-10" and about 200lbs (+/-) my feet don't touch the floor, I have 18 inches between my arse and the armrests on either side and I feel like a small child sitting in them?
I sat in one at a store near us and nearly had to carry my wife from the store as she was incapacitated with hysterical laughter.
And to the OP- Welcome to the US! and sorry about the hijack...

We don't bank with them it was just one of the banks the relo company dealt with.

It was like drinking with a bunch of redwoods. Sorry to the OP.

Welcome to the USA, land of the free and home of the gargantuan.

Because you are a midget by current US standards. On a recent night out my friend and I realized that most of the guys were well over 6' and some were pushing 7'.

Sorry to the OP.
