Health Insurance Options for Relocation
For an individual relocating to the US on a work visa, whose medical benefits may not kick in for several days - what options would they have to ensure continuous medical coverage from the moment they land. Have investigated:
- One way travel insurance (ie expatriatehealthcare.com) - Good for countries covered in transit but seemingly coverage ends the moment you land in the US

If it's only for a few days, I'd take my chances.
Otherwise Patriot Insurance has several short term policies.

Re: Health Insurance Options for Relocation
When I moved I bought good travel insurance for 30 days and ensured this coincided with my return ticket date; as I'm sure you know, it is cheaper to buy a return and not use the 'return' flight. Once landed in the US, I bought insurance through the ACA marketplace, then eventually got onto employer coverage. I found trying to get short-term insurance from a US provider to be incredibly difficult as the underwriting process takes so long.

Re: Health Insurance Options for Relocation
I had worldwide travel insurance via my UK employer (the UK arm of my US employer) for a very small monthly fee (maybe £5). My relocation to the US was structured as UK holiday time (still employed and on the travel insurance mentioned) until the day of my P45 when I became a US employee on their default healthcare coverage. I believe I had none or very little time where I wasn't covered by something. I even had a return flight to the UK as part of the ticket because they were *way* cheaper than one way fares (I did use it, to go back for Christmas).
