Default Health insurance for the 1st year

Hi everyone
We are hoping to arrive in the USA by the end of September. We are currently looking at the health insurance side of things, can anyone recommend some companies that they have personally used to get cover for when you first moved over there.

We have no pre-existing conditions and are a family of 4.

We have found the forum posts very informative! they make for great reading.

Thanks for any advice! :-)

Welcome to BE! Health insurance options vary state by state -- where will you be living? Won't you have insurance through your job? If not, look for the state ACA website.

Recommendations of a particular company is useless. The variables that make or break a healthcare policy for your family is what your healthcare anticipated needs will be, how much you are willing to give over in terms of deductibles before the healthcare plan starts paying, how much the co-pays are, if a drug plan is included, is it an In Network plan or a PPO which allows you to use any doctor and/or hospital out of network and as Nutmegger pointed out if you are coming here on a work visa wouldn't healthcare be provided by the employer and what the monthly premium will be for a family of four (usually if company provided the premium is lower and you only have to pay a part of the premium but the coverage is better)?

But many here in the Bay Area, which highlights how variable this is depending on location. Of course, California has perhaps the most complete ACA marketplace.
